An able seafarer deck course (AB Deck) must be completed before a seafarer can apply for a Certificate of Proficiency as AB Deck.
On completion of the AB deck course and the other qualifying conditions specified for the Certificate of Proficiency a seafarer may apply to the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for the CoP to be issued to them.
